Study finds Pfizer, Moderna vaccine immunity lasts longer. Do we still need booster shots?

Both the Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines have set off an immune system response that likely offers longer-lasting protection against the coronavirus, according to a new study released on Monday.The findings, which were published in the journal Nature, add more evidence to the notion that people immunized with mRNA vaccines may need less or even no boosters at all after they’ve been given their two shots. According to the study, such mRNA-based vaccines create a more “persistent” germinal centre B cell response, essentially meaning that a person’s immune response would be much stronger and more durable. While both Pfizer and Moderna have previously said that booster shots would likely be needed on an annual basis, the results come amid mounting evidence of the mRNA vaccines’ efficacy, and longevity, of protecting against COVID-19 — without the need of a booster.

The researchers examined participants four months after they received their first Pfizer dose and found that the germinal centres in their lymph nodes, likened to a sort of boot camp for immune cells, kept pumping out said cells to protect against the virus that causes COVID-19.

“We found that germinal centers were still going strong 15 weeks after the vaccine’s first dose. We’re still monitoring the germinal centers, and they’re not declining; in some people, they’re still ongoing,” he said. mRNA vaccines can be rapidly tweaked — within six weeks — to account for protection against any new or “emerging variants,” according to Evans.

More money thrown at stupid studies!

“Newly released data on the health and well-being of transgender and non-binary youth in Canada indicates that increased social support for said population could improve their quality of life and help eliminate health disparities.”

Now that’s some kind of rocket science conclusion isn’t it?! I want to know if my tax dollars are going into funding these kinds of ridiculous studies? I mean seriously! Do you have to undertake a costly scientific/sociological study to arrive at a common sense conclusion? Show me any youth, anybody for that matter, who does not benefit from “increased social support”. My quality of life improves with more social contacts. How about yours? Guess what? We arrived at that conclusion without need of any study!

Here’s a few hypotheses that I would gladly take government money to “study”:

Increasing amount of sunlight improves one’s mental health. True or false?

Exercise is beneficial for one’s cardiovascular health. True or false?

Eating fatty foods increases risk of heart disease. True or false?

Drinking 6 beers every day means you are impaired a lot. True or false?

Leaving dog poo by the road increases chance your neighbors will step on it. True or false?

Heavy wind has the capacity to topple dry trees. True or false?

Giving money for stupid studies angers the population base. True or false?

Blood test accurately detects cancer.

EDMONTON — Results from a study of a blood test that can detect more than 50 types of cancer suggest that it is accurate enough to be used as a screening tool among people at higher risk of the disease, including those who are not symptomatic.

In a paper published in the leading cancer journal Annals of Oncology Friday, researchers reported that the test accurately detected cancer, often before any symptoms were present, and delivered a very low false-positive rate.

The test also successfully predicted where in the body the cancer is located with a high degree of accuracy (88.7 per cent of cases) – a development researchers say can help doctors narrow down diagnostic testing and confirm a diagnosis sooner.

The test, developed by U.S.-based company Grail, detects chemical changes in fragments of genetic code – known as cell-free DNA (cfDNA) – that leak from tumours and other cells into the bloodstream.

Using genomic sequencing, the test can detect chemical changes to the DNA called methylation that control gene expression. A classifier developed with machine learning then uses the results to detect abnormal methylation patterns that suggest cancer is present and narrow down where in the body those abnormalities lie.

The company promises results will be made available within 10 business days from the time the sample reaches the lab.

During the study, scientists analyzed 2,823 people with the disease and 1,254 people without. The test wrongly detected cancer in only 0.5 per cent of cases.

In solid tumours that do not have any screening options, like those associated with oesophageal, liver and pancreatic cancers, the ability to generate a positive test result was twice as high (65.6 per cent) as cancers with solid tumours that do have screening options, such as breast, bowel, cervical or prostate cancers.

The test’s ability to detect cancer in the blood such as lymphoma and myeloma, however, was 55.1 per cent.

Researchers will continue to collect data from the test in large studies across the U.S. The company has also partnered with the U.K.’s National Health Service to pilot the test in approximately 165,000 eligible patients, starting later this year.

Pentagon has no explanation for UFOs.

Minds greater than yours and mine, technology used that we can only dream about, another words, the Pentagon, has determined they have “no explanation” for the unidentified flying objects the navy and air force and very sane minds have seen and documented. The Pentagon’s next generation technologies have not been able to discern anything about the very obvious flying objects that have become more and more discernible in our atmosphere. Yes, my friends, we are not alone. If ever there was an admission of the existence of UFO’s, it is the Pentagon report released today. By admitting they do not know, they say to us ‘we do in fact know’. There is no earthly explanation for these flying saucers and cigars. The only responsible conclusion? These objects come from a place far beyond earths’ atmosphere.

Wow! I’m not sure what I fear more. The fact they could not admit to the existence of the extraterrestrial beings, or the fact they offered “no explanation” for these phenomena. We are being monitored by something/someone ‘out there’ and we have no idea why or how. The suspicions and underground conspiracy theory stories about Roswell are no longer the realm of nut-bars. It has come to pass. There are indeed other “intelligent” things/beings/organisms out there in space. And they are watching us. Exciting times my friends. Scary times. Think about this now.

Covid-19. What if? What if this virus has been released onto mankind from these alien beings. They are monitoring our reaction to the rapidly spreading death, this evolving and morphing viral organism. How do these earthlings respond to a pandemic? Can we just watch as our virus decimates their numbers? It is not beyond the realm of possibility now. There are indeed things real yet not explainable in our framework, that could be subjecting humans to a scourge. There follows the rational yet slightly wild conclusion, that the release of this Pentagon report and our period fighting this virus, are related.

Are they planning on wiping us out to then land on this orb of riches, and plunder it for their needs? Science fiction is no longer a fiction. We are living through strange and mysterious times. Pandemic times. UFO times. Changing times. Enjoy the moments, they might be all we have left.

Fully vaccinated!

Fully vaccinated now! I understand I have to wait a couple weeks for the full impact, but the second jab has been received. Oddly, I don’t feel anywhere near as euphoric and happy as I did after the first jab. I suppose that is understandable, the jabs are quite common now. Nevertheless I do feel a calm sense of relief that I can put the past year and half behind me. So looking forward to engaging in ‘normal’ social discourse again. It will be most unusual, the first time I do go into a pub or restaurant and rub shoulders with the masses. That might even be happening by early July, given we are exceeding all the so-called phased targets well in advance of the original plan. Tourists are trickling back. Bit by bit we are reclaiming our lives. Will there be a joyous Canada Day celebration? I’m proudly flying the flags, but even I have to admit that following the most recent finding of 751 unmarked graves in Saskatchewan, the year 2021 July 1st celebration will likely pass without too much fanfare. The blood shed by our ancestors is coming back to haunt us. Oh Canada!

Rainbow flags and banners everywhere.

My local paper published a poem, written by somebody describing herself as a “poet and garden designer”. The poem was commissioned by a local church for their annual Pride service. The poem reviews this person’s life, examining her feelings and emotions as a Lesbian. She talks about finding a “new tribe in a new city” and how her new community has lifted her spirits. So far so good. Then this paragraph:

“2 Spirited, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer, Non-binary, Black, indigenous, people of colour; all deserving of dignity, these magnificent rainbow tapestries….”

And I thought, how presumptuous of this “poet” to include Blacks, Indigenous and people of colour in the same spectrum as the collection of sexual orientations! I wonder what a black or indigenous person would think, seeing their particular group in this collection? It is maddening how the woke movement feels they have a right to trumpet every cause and aggrieved issue, whether or not they have a personal connection.

The plethora of rainbow flags and banners throughout Prince Edward County is becoming quite silly. I always thought gays just wanted to be accepted into mainstream society and feel a part of the general community. To be accepted for their point of view and ideas. To just be a friend. This insane public display has the potential to drive people away, and frankly, to embarrass gays and lesbians who come here to experience the fruits of the County without being made conscious of their gender or orientation. I’ve never labelled people for their sexual orientation or made a big deal about it. But now, this community in which I live, is making me more and more conscious of the issue, and in a negative way. It’s already difficult for the “old timers” to adjust to the hordes of tourists invading this island paradise every summer. Now they have to also contend with a woke movement that wants to trumpet its sexual orientation? And do what exactly? Change what? I was getting along fine with everybody before the rainbow coalition decided it had to assert its presence like a sledgehammer. Meh!

Another statue of Canada’s first Prime Minister disappears. Victim of cancel culture.

Kingston. Home of Canada’s first and arguably best Prime Minister, Sir John A. Macdonald. “John Alexander Macdonald was the dominant creative mind which produced the British North America Act and the union of provinces which became Canada. As the first prime minister of Canada, he oversaw the expansion of the Dominion from sea to sea. His government dominated politics for a half century and set policy goals for future generations of political leaders.” (Canadian Encyclopedia) And the city takes down the sculpture honoring this great man. Consigning it to the cemetery where he is buried. At least they had the courage to officially remove the statue before the woke mob tore it down. So for 150 years we have held this man in such high esteem, founder of the nation, forger of the coast to coast railroad that cemented Canada as a unified nation. And now, the cancel culture vultures have succeeded in removing him from the history books. Once again I remind you, who ran the residential schools? The Catholic church! Yet, the vitriol and anger is directed against the leader who created the nation. And Canada Day celebrations are being canceled from coast to coast. I’ve bought several new Canadian flags and proudly display them in my yard. I suggest you do so as well, before the drama teacher decides to make it illegal to display this symbol of nationhood. Canada is falling apart. We are being sucked into some kind of androgynous mass, devoid of any identity. What a mess.
