Canada’s new crown belongs on Homer Simpson’s head!

Canada changes its coat of arms. Apparently the original crown (left in pic) has religious symbols that our esteemed woke leaders in Ottawa find offensive. To whom? Anybody out there offended by the St. Andrews crown on the left? It’s the one Queen Elizabeth wore on her coronation. OH. And the current King Charles too. The new crown has a snow flake on top and maple leaves around. The crosses and fleur-de-lis on the original must have been so offensive to so many! And notice how our Liberal government has changed the direction of the arrows on the ermine accent so they now go to the LEFT! And the jewels on the original must have offended all working Canadians, can’t be celebrating anything that smacks of wealth. What’s with the new blue squiggly? Looks like a piece of spaghetti. Must be that one of Trudeau’s graphic arts buddies needed work. This country is not the Canada my parents immigrated to. Hell, I no longer recognize it! These subtle changes to our history keep eroding any sense of place or continuity. The new crown belongs on Homer Simpson’s head.

Australian surf club bans nudity in showers.

Then the club put up a new sign in the change-room: “Shower in your swimming costume / change with a towel around you.” Pantle then received a letter in February from the club, warning she had breached their no nudity-in-change-rooms policy. “The club is a family friendly environment and … nudity is not acceptable,” the letter read. “Should you continue to ignore the rules, you will be subject to disciplinary action, and/or … termination of your membership.” The purpose is to protect young people, said Jon Harkness, the chief executive of Surf Life Saving Central Coast. Harkness pointed to situations when young people had been exposed to nudity in the change-room and felt “uncomfortable”. (Rafqa Touma)

Having grown up in a sauna culture, I find this Australian surf club ban on nudity to be a sad indictment of the present state of many western societies. What makes young people “uncomfortable” with nudity is the shame their elders foster and generate through their own behaviour. Instead of treating the human body as a marvelous organism that fulfils numerous biological functions, the rule against nudity in showers in effect does the absolute reverse. This policy sexualizes everything about the body. By hiding the body, you create shame. You make nudity something to be avoided, to be shunned. You body shame and build a negative and perverse image of nudity. You are not protecting young people! What you are doing is debasing their self image and alienating youth from a simple and healthy appreciation of their own bodies. What stupidity surrounds us in this world!

Ian Fleming’s James Bond masterpieces to be ‘woke’ rewritten

Ian Fleming’s James Bond novels are to be reissued with a number of racial references removed and a disclaimer that the books might use terms of attitudes “considered offensive by modern readers”. Ian Fleming Publications Ltd, which owns the rights to the author’s work, employed sensitivity readers to look at the texts and make recommendations for changes. The changes include the removal of the N-word in almost all cases, and omitting references to the ethnicity of a number of minor characters. Another change comes in a scene where Bond visits a nightclub in Harlem, and a reference to the “audience panting and grunting like pigs at the trough” has been changed to “Bond could sense the electric tension in the room”. What the F..k!! The cancel culture and woke world we live in makes me reconsider the abhorrence I’ve felt toward alt-right and ‘stars and bars’ subcultures. It is no wonder these extremist groups exist. This is patently absurd. Is this the future for all writers submitting anything for publication anymore? Sensitivity readers!?! Is all creative writing to now be subject to sensitivity censorship? Maddening! Thank God for blogs! I will continue to write without censors and invite all by subscribers to submit commentary. I’ll be the ultimate arbiter of what is offensive. Write what you want. Read what you want. But don’t rewrite history! Seriously. What is offensive about the phrase “panting and grunting like pigs at the trough”? Is this offensive to pigs?

Womb transplants for transgender women will soon be possible, doctors say

Forty-five years after the world’s first “test-tube baby” was born, surgeons are preparing for another historical first: transplanting a womb inside the body of someone born male. ….In some cases, the donor womb might come from a transgender man — someone who was born female who is transitioning to male and who no longer desires a uterus. Looks like adoptions and use of surrogates will become yet more anachronistic societal concepts, like common sense and logic! It’s no wonder Vladimir Putin calls the west decadent, perverse and anti-Christian. Stories like this one actually make me think the dictator/war criminal might have some valid points.

Woke culture cancels school Valentine’s Day

An Ontario elementary school has canceled Valentine’s Day on the grounds that the traditional celebration of love could “negatively impact our families and students.” “While we acknowledge the celebration of Valentine’s Day, and are mindful of the popularity of that day, it is not celebrated by all students/families in our community,” reads a notice sent to parents and subsequently forwarded to local media. The note adds, “it is essential that all students feel welcomed and reflected at school, and that our celebrations do not negatively impact our families and students.” In 2021, however, the school banned the bringing of paper valentines onto school property on the grounds that they were “non-essential materials” that could act as a vector for infectious disease. For this year, however, it was reasons of health and equity that inspired a similar order. The school in question is Jean Steckle Public School. Named for a prominent local nutritionist, it’s an elementary school in Kitchener, Ont., comprising roughly 750 students. (National Post)

The Rape of Proserpina

Just celebrating some of the incredible art humanity has created. This masterpiece from the 17th century was carved by Gian Lorenzo Bernini, whom you also may recognize as the man who designed St. Peter’s Basilica. The Medici family commissioned him to create this piece and it still stands today in Piazza della Signoria in Florence. The piece is titled ‘The Rape of Proserpina’ and depicts the abduction of Proserpina by the god Pluto who takes her to the underworld. Bernini was 23 years old when he carved this astonishing marble. Go see it while you still can. It won’t be long before the woke/cancel movement decides the topic and title is contrary to their sanitized world view and demand it be boxed away, or heaven forbid demolished.

The Brownies are getting a new name.

Girl Guides of Canada (GGC) informed volunteers Tuesday morning that the organization will be changing the name of the branch that involves seven- and eight-year-old girls, saying they are striving to be more inclusive.

“We have heard from racialized girls and former members that the name Brownies has caused them harm. Some do not want to be part of this branch because of the name,” read an email sent out to volunteers. “Some skip this branch or delay joining Girl Guides until after this branch.

I was in Cub scouts and Boy scouts as a kid. Not once did I associate “Brownies” with anything racist. The girls had brown uniforms, brown berets, brown sashes! There is no more Canadian culture, not that we had a finely defined culture anyway! But at least I was proud to have Canadian citizenship. Now, I thank God I have another citizenship. This movement toward woke culture and gender neutrality is out of control.
