A Texas father who beat a man to death for raping his five-year-old daughter won’t be charged, a grand jury has ruled.

On June 9, a witness saw a man grab the little girl while at her family’s ranch in Lavaca County, Texas. He immediately went to the child’s father to tell him what he’d seen, when they heard the girl scream. The 23-year-old dad ran in the direction of his daughter’s voice and found Jesus Mora Flores sexually assaulting her.

He struck blows to the back of the attacker’s head and neck, killing him.

After hearing a recording of the 911 call the young father placed the night of the killing, a grand jury opted not to indict him, the Gonzales Cannon reports.

“I need an ambulance!” the man told the 911 dispatcher in a panicked voice. “A man was raping my daughter and I beat him up and I don’t know what to do.”

When the operator asked for his location, he interrupted: “I need some help!…The guy’s going to die if y’all don’t help.”

Other family members tried to revive Flores with CPR, and the father tried to load him into the back of his pickup truck to take him to hospital — all to no avail.

When authorities arrived on scene, they found Flores, a 47-year-old man who worked at the ranch, dead and bloodied with his pants pulled down and his genitals exposed.

The witness told police he saw Flores nab the girl, and medical examiners confirmed she was sexually assaulted.

“This case has been very traumatizing on the child, her father, and his entire family,” district attorney Heather McMinn said. “This is a 23-year-old man who is a peaceable soul.”

Under Texas law, a person can use deadly force to stop a sexual assault.

………………Well now, that is refreshing news!  The guy should get the Congressional medal of honor!

Unliking Facebook

Great article from the National Post.  Years from now, we may reflect on the Facebook phenomenon and view it like so many Ponzi scams that bilked investors of $billions.  For now, I applaud Zuckerberg and company for their timing and prescience in going IPO.  But as far as using Facebook any more, I’m with the writer (see link below).  It really is a monumental exercise in narcissism and nosiness.
