Naked guys in saunas.

I’m thinking of changing my blog name from ‘saunaboy’ to something else. I googled ‘saunaboy’ and what comes up on the first page? “naked gay guys in saun” and “gay porn video”. These are not exactly word associations that I want to be related to! It’s another example of how culture and geography impact on our lives. I doubt very much that a google search done in Finland would generate the same kind of results. So, this ‘naked guy’ is going to enjoy a meditative sweat in his sauna and muse on this issue. Have a great sauna day y’all!

Finland buys 64 F-35 fighter jets.

My Estonian readers will appreciate this article. Finland just signed a defense agreement to buy 64 F-35 fighter jets! It’s the biggest military procurement in Finland’s history. Is Canada paying attention? Russia’s immediate neighbors recognize the threat posed by the big bear to their east. It’s high time Canada made a decision on its defense procurement and gave its military the support it needs. Never mind the Pandemic. There are even worse things coming.

Soome kaitseminister Antti Kaikkonen teatas, et riik ostab USA-lt 64 F-35 hävitajat.
Kaitseministri sõnul on mitmeotstarbeline F-35 sõjalise võimsuse poolest Soomele sobivaim variant. Kaikkoneni kinnitusel on F-35 hinna ja kvaliteedi suhe väga hea.
Hanke protsess kestis kuus aastat. Tehing läheb maksma umbes 8,4 miljardit eurot. Soome peaministri Sanna Marini sõnul oli valitsuse otsus USA hävitajate ostmise osas üksmeelne.

Soome plaanib USA-lt osta ka 200 tiibraketti JASSM. USA kongress andis ekspordiloa raketile, mis oleks Soome hävitajate põhirelv maapealsete sihtmärkide hävitamisel. Praegu on Soome õhujõudude käsutuses 62 hävitajat F/A-18 Hornet, millede kasutusaeg lõpeb hiljemalt 2030. aastal ja osaliselt hakatakse neid kasutuselt maha võtma juba 2025. aastal. Uued hävitajad on kõige kallim relvaost Soome ajaloos. Üks F-35 maksab vähemalt 120 miljonit dollarit.

F-35 on rahvusvahelisel turul kõrges hinnas. Lennuki on tellinud omale 15 riiki. USA õhujõud võtsid hävitaja kasutusele juba 2015. aastal. Lennuk jääb eeldatavasti teenistusse kuni 2077. aastani.

Sauna

Oh Man. The sweat pours down my back. Feet burning. This is a God damn hot sauna. Have to pour water on the bench. Wood is too hot to sit on. Hell. The leili water is too hot to pour on the bench. I splash some drinking water on. At least it is still cool. The fire box keeps glowing. Maple and oak. Serious BTU’s going there. Another ladle of water thrown on the rocks. Steam shooting up. Hits the cedar ceiling. Cascades down, envelopes skin. Breathing through cupped hands. Can’t breathe through the nose. Too hot. Focus the mind. Come on now. You can last thru this blast. Let it ride. No thoughts other than surviving the heat. Slow down the breathing. Be centered. It’s passing soon. Ride it out. You can do it. Aahh… the relief when it finally stops burning. Now it’s a mesmerizing surge. The heat is a part of you. Breathe in. Breathe out. Close the eyes. See whatever you want to see. You are designing your moment. Gather your wits. I can move. Off the bench. Outside. Fresh air. Make your way to the lake. Feel the rocks. Don’t slip. Immerse. Oh man. That is so cold. The skin tingles. Brain whips into immediacy. Heart pumps with purpose. I’m floating in space. Stars above. Crazy amount of heaven. Milky way spreads through the dome. Yes. Sauna.
